We wanted a very simple and short ceremony; Marilyn did not try to persuade us towards any particular type of ceremony however Marilyn did offer us examples of other ceremonies, readings, and poems and gave us ideas of things we could include. We went online and found Marilyn on her Rainbow Pride Celebrant Website by Google searching. She made such a good first impression at our initial meeting. Donna and I wanted someone who had experience with Commitment Ceremonies, someone who was as just as passionate about love and family for all, as we are. We found Marilyn just this. Marilyn is thoughtful, extremely helpful, warm, supportive and above all passionate. Marilyn offered us oodles of resources to help plan our Commitment Ceremony. There was more than enough just in her Commitment Resource Pack and then there were all the online resources. We have three very small children, and over our busy year Marilyn has been so understanding about the minimal contact and at times the running, jumping and screaming of three small boys that often took place during our meetings, phone calls and rehearsal. Marilyn puts such effort and thought into every little detail. She also gave great advice and suggestions for our special day. We loved our ceremony that included our 3 boys, not a thing went wrong and it was the most perfect day for us! We have also recommended a number of people to use Marilyn as their celebrant for their Commitment or Wedding Ceremony plans over the next couple of years. You can also use one of the sensational venues in and around the Gold Coast and Brisbane including cosy chapels, mountain restaurants with panoramic views, exquisite sub-tropical gardens, rainforest retreats and up market reception facilities or if you are adventurous jump out of a plane, go up in a hot air balloon or scuba dive if that is your passion. I recently conducted a ceremony 5,000' up in a helicopter over the Gold Coast!

Your ceremony could be relaxed and informal, or you may choose to do a traditional ceremony with all the trappings or an original ceremony of your own creation. It may include special ceremonies of your own design or choosing, or rituals from other cultures to create the perfect ceremony. 

A Handfasting is an excellent way for a same-sex couple to make their commitment known.
